About Sequence Clinical Pilates & Rehab Space
Our main goal at Sequence is to promote healthy movement for our clients. This can take place in the form of injury diagnosis and rehab, pain management, facilitation of good movement patterns, or even just education for getting the best out of your body! We are focused on YOU and YOUR goals.
When working with us at Sequence Clinical Pilates and Rehab Space, you will receive a thorough assessment of your current condition and goals. We work with your specific needs to devise a program tailored to you. We offer hands on corrections in the sessions and ensure you understand your body and movement patterns.
Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and abilities (including pre/post natal and elderly), as it is a great way to improve balance, control, core strength and flexibility. Clinical Pilates uses specific floor based exercises and spring resisted equipment to train the body’s deep postural and ‘core’ muscles.
Benefits of Clinical Pilates with an Osteopath or Physiotherapist
Our instructors are fully qualified allied health practitioners, with a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. Each instructor has completed extra qualifications in clinical pilates. Together, we bring decades worth of combined experience of treating and teaching clinical pilates!
Our Osteopaths have the benefit of an existing relationship with clients who have been referred from the clinic. We know your personal history and any areas that could do with a little support! Our holistic approach to treatment carries through to our pilates and rehab teaching, ensuring that your whole body gets the attention it needs to reach your rehab goals.
Our physiotherapist brings a new perspective of biomechanical assessment and rehabilitation, with experience in treating sporting injuries, disabilities, persistent pain and more. A deep understanding of pathophysiology and rehabilitation principles will ensure that you are receiving expert guidance to manage and improve your condition.
We all thoroughly assess your strengths and weaknesses and then design a personalised clinical pilates program and teach it to you privately, 1:1 and then gradually transition you into a small group "studio" session over a 4-6 week block. This course will ensure you are confident that you are doing the exercises correctly and that they are appropriate for you. We will review any existing pilates program to ensure you are progressing and continue to be challenged in your pilates practice.
We believe that intrinsic and independent management is always the best long-term strategy, therefore we do our best to facilitate a safe and informed transition back to independent or community-based exercise when you are ready!

FAQs

You will need an Initial 1:1 session which takes an hour to go through a thorough assessment of your current condition, set up a plan and introduce you to the fundamental movements. You will then follow up with 2-4 1:1 sessions to develop a tailored program and get you confident and comfortable with your program before proceeding to classes. You then have the option to proceed with 1:1 if this is what you prefer or you can move to a group class.
-
There are a maximum of four people in a class. Class sizes are small so we can ensure you get the attention to detail you require. Each participant is working on their own individual printed program tailored to their condition and rehab requirements.
-
Yes, the initial assessment is more than just introducing you to the fundamentals. We will assess your condition and skill level which will help us tailor a plan and program to get you the results you are looking for. If you have pilates experience then usually we are able to get through some of the basics faster which leaves more time for expanding your repertoire and building your program so you can join a class sooner.
-
If you are receiving a 1:1 session you can claim private health with all practitioners. Group sessions can be claimed with our physio, Ady, but unfortunately group sessions can not yet be claimed under osteopathy.
-
Consistency is the key. 1-2 sessions a week is ideal, if you can commit to once a week and be consistent you will see results sooner. If twice a week is achievable with your circumstances then that's a bonus but as long as you are consistent you will benefit. You can also continue your program at the RACV or other gyms where you have access to the reformers to get additional benefits.

Pilates is a lifestyle and a form of management to keep your body functioning pain free and get you back to doing the things you love. You will typically start to notice results within 6-8 weeks. After 2-3 months of consistent sessions you will see the benefit (and most likely be hooked!). Most people love the way they feel when keeping up with pilates so choose to continue. However some people find that 3-4 months of focus is enough to build up their core and conditioning and get them back to other forms of movement to maintain their conditioning. This is something that is individual and can be discussed with your practitioner.

Something comfortable that you can move easily in which does not restrict you. Generally whatever you wear to the gym or exercise in. No Jeans.
Wear socks for hygiene reasons, grippy socks are preferred to make it more comfortable and safer for you, however we have grippy mats that can be used if you don't have grippy socks.
Bring a water bottle and your private health card if you have it.

At Sequence Clinical Pilates your instructor is a registered Osteopath or Physiotherapist who will tailor your program to any condition or injury you may suffer. Sessions are usually 1:1 or small groups where you are working on your own individual program based on your needs rather than a generic class. Due to small classes (no more than 4 people) we are able to spend more 1:1 time with you, keep an eye on your form and give you corrections where needed to ensure you are working safely and effectively to ensure you feel better and stronger after the session and avoid further injury or aggravation.
Clinical pilates uses more than just the reformer. It incorporates the Cadillac (or Trapeze Table), spring walls, ladder barrel, and Wunda Chair as well as the reformer to ensure the most precise choice of exercise and add more variety. We also incorporate weights, bands and other small accessory equipment.
